Future Home IoT

Internet of Things and future home.

IoT project logo
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE?
Explore the potential of Internet of Things technologies (commonly known as IoT), wich focuses on installing devices and everyday elements interconnected through the internet or other networks, in this case with NB-IoT mobile communication to monitor and act in the environment of people, homes, buildings, cities, etc.

The adequacy will also be validated both for improving people's quality of life and for its practical application.

The project is carried out in collaboration with leading organizations such as the Spanish Red Cross, Vodafone and Qualcomm.

WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
Two lines of work have been proposed to achieve the objectives:

  • The first line focuses on "energy poverty" where we monitor relevant aprameters for detecting these cases such as temperature or humidity, and thus allow more efficient and personalized action for each case, directly and positively impacting quality of people's lives.
  • The second line is related eith the safety of elderly people to promote their tranquility, independence and so that they can stay as long as possible in the environment they want. This line includes fall detection of elderly people in their homes or reduced environments, in a non-invasive or disruptive way, without having to carry any device.

Both lineas are designed to exhaustively explore the potentialities and challenges of this technology while advancing in prototypes to help people clearly and directly.

WHAT IS THE STATUS?
Some sensors are being identified and also some real environment tests are being carried out.

NEXT STEPS
Identify new scenarios and IoT potentialities.
