Future Home IoT

Internet of things and the home of the future.

WHAT IS THE OBJETIVE?
Explore the potential of Internet of Things technologies (commonly known as IoT), which focuses on installing devices and everyday items interconnected through the Internet or other networks, in this case with NB-IoT mobile communication to monitor and act. in the environment of people, homes, buildings, cities, etc.
The adequacy both for improving people's quality of life and for its practical application will also be validated.
The project is carried out in collaboration with leading organizations such as Spanish Red Cross, Vodafone and Qualcomm.
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
Two lines of work have been proposed to achieve the objectives:
  • The first line focuses on the energy poverty where we monitor relevant parameters for the detection of cases of energy poverty, such as temperature or humidity and thus allow a more effective and personalized action for each case, directly and positively impacting people's quality of life.

  • The second line deals with the safety of older people to promote their tranquility, independence and so that they can stay as long as possible in the environment they want. This line deals with the detection of falls for the elderly in their homes or reduced environments, in a non-invasive or disruptive way, without having to carry any device.
Both lines are designed to exhaustively explore the potential and challenges of this technology while making progress in prototypes to help people clearly and directly.
WHAT IS THE STATUS?
Sensors are currently being identified and tests are also being carried out in real environments.
WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?
Identify new scenarios and potentialities of the internet of things.
