Red Cross ICT Awards for Humanitarian Purposes. Participates!!!!!!

The purpose of this call is to distinguish three (3) works framed under the common heading of "Awards for Technological Innovation applied to humanitarian purposes".

The Prizes will be awarded to participants who present projects that take advantage of information and communication technologies, for the benefit of humanitarian actions and disadvantaged groups.

In this edition, a prize will be awarded for each of the following categories.

A. Category “Humanitarian Solution”

It will reward a fully operational solution that contributes to the response to the purposes listed in the introduction to this call.

In the case of proposing an application, it must be available for installation on GooglePlay and/or on the AppStore.

In the case of solutions accessible via the Web, they must be available to the public at the time the application is submitted.

In the case of solutions not available to the general public, the candidate must provide sufficient access to the solution to allow verification of its full functionality.

B. Category "Humanitarian Solution Prototype"

In this category, the minimum level of development valid for the category is that of "MVP" minimum viable product.

In the case of Apps, the candidates will attach the executable(s) together with the explanations they consider necessary so that the jury can install and operate the App.

In all other cases, it is not mandatory that they be accessible to the public, but the candidate must provide access and sufficient instructions for the jury to verify their functionality.

C. Category "New ICT solutions in the Red Cross"

In this category, the participating Red Cross teams can present any level of development of the solution. The minimum level of development is “the idea”. The proposals must give the jury access to the prototypes or tests that allow verifying the level of development declared by the participants.

By way of example, the following initiatives or their combinations can be presented as an "Idea".

  • Use of available standard technology by a Red Cross team in an innovative way, which favors achieving the purposes described in the introduction.
  • An App, with any level of development, that favors achieving the purposes described in the introduction.
  • The digital transformation of a process.
  • The functional description of a proposal that contributes to achieving the purposes described above.

2. Financial endowment

Category A

It will be endowed with four thousand euros (€4.000) and will be accompanied by a commemorative statuette.

It will be subject to the withholdings and taxes stipulated by the applicable current legislation and will be deducted from the economic endowment. The winner will issue an invoice once the jury's decision is final and the prize has been accepted.

Categories B and C

They will be endowed with four thousand euros (€4.000) per category for promotion, development, advertising or other actions that facilitate the effective implementation of the project and its final utility.

The actions may be diverse depending on the level of development of the winning projects in categories B and C. The proposals for the use of this endowment will correspond to the representative of the candidacy, with the Red Cross having the right to approve, modify or cancel them. Candidates, if they are category winners, accept the criteria of the Red Cross on the use of the prize money.

The participants of categories B and C (or, where appropriate, a representation of the teams) will participate in the month of March 2020 in the "4 Years From Now" congress organized by Barcelona by the GSMa within the framework of the Mobile World Congress with charge to the prize money.
